World War II Experience
In this presentation, participants will learn about WWII through the eyes of a war correspondent. Arn portrays an Ernie Pyle-type news reporter who is embedded with an infantry company in war-torn France during the Allied Offensive to liberate Europe. From this unique perspective, students see the war as current events rather than history.
It is important for students to understand the causes of the bloodiest and costliest war in the history of the world. As a war correspondent, Arn can also report on all aspects of the war in Europe and the Pacific. Special emphasis will be on the experiences of the common soldier; his life, his uniform, his weapons and equipment.
No study of World War II would be complete without a true understanding of what life was like on the home front. Arn will report on how the war changed life for millions of American civilians who made sacrifices that included rationing, growing "victory gardens" and working in war industries.
